NEW! - See more events listings including webinars, live skills workshops and conference calls to support learning choices which work best for you. Note that the skills hands on will only be taught once this year, in Albuquerque, with limited class sizes.
1) Level I Ayurvedic Doula Training. Click here for more information. Note that this site is not completely updated. Requirements are shifting to be more practical for home care and costs of training, shifting about 35 hours of advanced studies and related internship hours to a planned Continuing Ed/Advanced clinical program to be announced in about 1 year. Please enquire for the revised training hours and coursework for certification and see our events page for WEBINARS, conference calls and live training options this fall.
2) Level II Ayurvedic Doula Training.Includes Postpartum Mother's Home Spa Care, Ayurvedic Home Panchakarma, Ayurvedic Herbals, Advanced Postpartum Herbals, Postpartum Consulting, and The Business of Being an AyurDoula. Participants will receive 3 Ayurvedic massages and experience an Ayurvedic home cleanse during the workshop. More information click here, where you can also see the optional extended internship service project.
3) Three day or weekend Postpartum Doula training, offered by numerous National agencies. If you opt to take the Postpartum AYURDOULA Level I & II courses prior to one of these trainings, you may want to do some basic reading in postpartum care if you are new to the subject. You will want to explore basic postpartum and breastfeeding care, which is covered well in many books such as the reading list in one of these trainings.
4) Internship
See internship options at a distance, service project, or other options.
For more information on basic postpartum doula trainings, see the websites for:
DONA - Doulas of North America.
CAPPA - Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association
Florida School of Traditional Midwifery - Gainesville (and other midwifery schools).
La Matrona, Traditional Holistic Midwifery and Doula trainings based in Asheville, NC.
Mothers or midwifery practitioners with good experience or knowledge with breastfeeding/resources and infant care may submit a letter for this requirement exemption.
* The certification study option to the intensives is to find Ayurvedic and AyurDoula trainer/s who will take you on as an intern for at least the same number of hours as you are missing in class. In addition, all correspondence units must be purchased and exams and practice proficiencies successfully completed. See http://www.sacredwindow.com/node/84 for the Verde Valley Meals for Moms internship options; that program is designed to blossom into a training program for interning AyurDoulas. Contact Ysha with your interest.
