Do you see – and feel – the need to more effectively help mothers and babies after childbirth? Are you a mama looking for answers and real feel-good support?  Then The Sacred Window  approach to postpartum care may be the way for you to learn how.   If you are a mother needing care now, please check out one of our affiliate’s websites for an Ayurvedic Caregiver Directory.

After childbirth is such a sweet and important time to be more in touch – with our natural ability torbrs_0241 mother well, feeling balanced, conscious, stable and centered. Enjoying the sounds, touch, sight, and smells of our baby, and bonding in the flow of love that structures such foundations for life. Sharing this love with the rest of our family as we regain our strength from this huge labor.

And — not to be negative, yet– so many mothers and babies experience colic, postpartum depression, infections, post surgery pain, exhaustion, lactation problems, weight, hormones, constipation, overwhelm, fears, forgetfulness…

The really good news is — Mother Nature DOES want to unfold great gifts in Mother’s body, mind and spirit. There is a sacred window of time … the rare conditions after childbirth actually give us a this opportunity, when we cooperate with Mother Nature. It is time for extended bonding with Baby and deeply integrating rest and rejuvenation – to naturally best serve the hours and years ahead.

Our first 42 days after birth set the stage for the next 42 years for women’s health, and for Baby’s health and happiness for life. Yes this all can be influenced before, and afterwards. Most powerfully, during this Sacred Window of time.

This 42 day postpartum window IS likely to be full of love, overwhelm, bliss, sleep deprivation, pain, joy, moodiness, friends offering to help, painful elimination, gas and bloating … It is VERY timely to serve maternal and newborn health. It can be deeply rewarding for them, and for you.newborn and mom x220

In our webinars Ysha will describe to you how to mother the mother; to nourish a mother’s ability to serve her family in dynamically evolving consciousness, vital health, and emotional stability – according to Nature’s little understood plan. Learn to help mothers and babies with practical methods, from time-tested wisdom and from current research.

Since 2012, Sacred Window School has been offering training in maternal and newborn care and I have been personally offering teachings and insights for over 20 years.  In the process of serving mothers and doulas through these many years, I feel profoundly fortunate to have witnessed the magical process of helping mothers at this sacred time. It has changed who I am and how I see things…

After giving birth our hearts are wide open, our bodies so fragile, and we want to be the best we can be for baby. A Sacred Window of change is naturally structured into our lives and communities when a baby comes, which spontaneously invokes our physical and spiritual resources — whether we know it or not. With a newborn in our arms we naturally praise and call on support from the unseen, the mystical and the divine, as well as our own resources.  As a result, much personal growth unfolds.

Such a vision of bliss and pure connection at the moment of birth can sound idealistic yet it’s truly part of the human experience if we can align with it. Birth changes us, and not just in the heart. It opens us to nature’s way; giving us insights into what is truly holistic and best for mother, baby and family.

The problem is, we often overdo, pushing ourselves into difficulties, becoming divided inside, sometimes loosing touch with the body’s needs and our ability hear the quiet inner voice of wisdom and balance.

Ayurveda Guides the Way

A truly integrative approach to postpartum care has been lacking, in modern culture and maternal and newborn care. It is clear that much of the intelligence inherent in world traditions has been diluted or forgotten in recent years. Fortunately, Ayurveda provides a guided path back  to the competency of mother nature’s wisdom that has been known and applied for thousands of years.

The loving hands and wisdom of those who are re-learning this ancient system of health care hold potent solutions to modern day issues in childbearing.  Ayurveda offers us choices that are sure to benefit many generations yet to come and it is my supreme honor to be one of those who are providing this training and knowledge.

 Change is Good!

(Ysha wrote these resolutions a few months before she passed New Years 2015.  They still serve and inspire those of us who work in this field. We hope you catch a little of her inspiration, too!)

I have come to realize in the past few months that the depth of my feeling for this work must take a new form — one that better supports more mothers and babies and their helpers, and that also nourishes my energy and commitment more completely.

Here are a few of my renewed resolutions for Sacred Window School:

  1. Teaching postpartum care within the context of Ayurveda and holistic modalities, I want to deeply help mamas and babies prevent the overwhelm of birth, enjoy ample milk supply and happy tummies.
  2. I want to provide rejuvenating delicious support, simple “kitchen medicines” and inspiring recipes for moms and families
  3. I plan to mentor students to provide wise woman guidance for the best and most appropriate self-care choices.
  4. I want to support mamas and their families to live in love, ease and comfort for baby’s best start.  This was my personal blessing when I had my third child, and I wish this for you too.
  5. I wish to reveal the wisdom I was given over the past 20 years in a way that naturally weaves the most important elements for everyday postnatal care into the matrix and toolkit of the many who already are committed to serve mama and baby–from family to doula to midwife to clinical care practitioner.
  6. I emphatically believe this knowledge must get to the most mamas and babies possible, and that keeping the costs down is imperative. This is especially true for those who aren’t able or can’t afford to travel for study, or who can’t do a full training program because of time constraints. So, as a result, I’ve drastically cut prices on packaged courses, and focused my efforts on making “anytime” learning possible through pre-recorded materials.
  7. I intend to use technology wisely and skillfully, never forgetting that it is human-to-human contact and sharing that truly moves us and helps us to evolve spiritually.
  8. And perhaps most importantly, it is my deepest wish that we may all digest Life more intelligently–learning to work together and celebrate together with robust awareness and heart-felt courage, compassion and kindness.
  9. After all, it takes a Village to raise a child. It is my wish that we create that village, one practice  and one insight at a time!

As always, I value and welcome your feedback and input.

With love and blessings,

Ysha Oakes, Founder of Sacred Window School
